Size Guide

Determine rug size and place it correctly

To achieve the perfect room effect and special living flair, you should follow certain rules. You can find out what these rules are in the following text.

When choosing a rug size, many people rely on their sense of proportion. However, this often leads to buying too small rugs, which are submerged in the room and have anything but a harmonious effect. But even a large rug is not ideal for every room, as it can quickly appear visually disproportionate.

To determine the right rug size, measure the area covered by the rug beforehand. The furniture arrangement should be the same way as it will later be on the rug. Now it is easier to measure the width and length of the new rug. Depending on the color, pattern, and material used, rugs have a very individual influence on the living atmosphere of a room.

Living Room

The right width for your furniture

In the living room, any rug looks good. For extra comfort, you can choose a slightly larger rug to place all or part of the seating furniture on it. The sofa's width is a good guide: the width of the rug should be at least the same as the width of the sofa, ideally at least 15-30 cm wider on each side. Below we explain which constellations you should choose for your living room.

We recommend choosing a very large rug for large living rooms so that your seating furniture can fill in completely on the rug. This way, you fill your room optimally and make your furnishings look more lively. Ensure that there is enough space between your furniture so that there are no tight relationships.

We recommend placing the rug directly in front of the sofa for smaller living rooms. Only a few pieces of furniture, such as a coffee table, should be positioned directly on the rug.

If there is not enough free space in your living room, you should lay the rug under the front half of your furniture. Only the front legs of the furniture should be on the rug. In this way, you can make the most of the limited free space without losing any of the living flairs.

Dining Room

The right size and layout for your dining table

The right size and layout for your dining table If you want to place a rug under your dining table, you should bear the following things in mind: The rug should be at least large enough to accommodate the table, including all chairs. To protect the edges of your rug, even if the chairs are pulled out. Since the table covers the centre of the rug somewhat, the pattern is most effective at the edges.

The rug should extend at least 75 cm beyond the edge line of the table. Therefore, the ideal size is at least 150 cm more in length or width than the table. Um maximalen Komfort zu bieten, sollten alle Stühle der Essgruppe auf dem Teppich Platz finden.

For maximum comfort, all the chairs in the dining group should sit on the rug. If the shape of the table is reflected in the shape of the dining room rug, it looks particularly harmonious. Thus, a round dining table on a round rug comes into its own.

Bedroom

Warm feet straight after getting up

How nice is it to get out of the cosy bed directly onto a soft rug? Bedroom rugs set cosy accents and ensure warm feet as soon as you get up. It's also a big plus for the room acoustics. You can put one large rug or several small ones as a bed surround. The size 300 x 250 cm is ideal for a typical double bed.

Do you have a large bedroom and want to feel comfortable all around? Place the bed on the bedroom rug. An evenly wide border on all sides of the bed looks particularly harmonious. For the greatest comfort, you should plan at least 60 - 70 cm of rug area on each side of the bed.

Bed surrounds placed directly in front of the bed offer a nice alternative. A one-bed rug on each side is sufficient; this gives you more space and room for variation. You can lay out the bed surrounds according to your taste, on all sides of the bed or only on one.

Hallway / Entrance

Discover the potential of your hallway -

Your hallway is the calling card for your entire interior. A beautifully designed hallway shows who you are and how you live. Unfortunately, the hallway is often neglected, even though it offers a lot of potential for greater living comfort.

Ideal for hallways are so-called "rug runners" - these are narrow, long rugs. For particularly long entrances, we recommend placing several "runners" at some distance from each other so as not to make your room look even longer. Make sure that the rug keeps enough distance to the surrounding walls. We recommend a distance of at least 10 cm from the wall.
